The product of
Mazda DNA:
Sports car styling innovation
With
the design for the RX-8, Mazda set out to create a completely new sports
car form while maintaining the sporty DNA of the RX-7 and MX-5/Miata. By
this we mean low weight, a pleasing ride with exceptional grip and
handling, and dynamic styling that immediately conveys these attributes.
The RX-8, with its next-generation sports car dynamism as its basic
design concept, takes Mazda DNA to a new stage in its evolution.

Chevrolet’s
All-New Malibu, Colorado And Equinox
"To
win in baseball you need to be ‘strong up the middle,’ and the same
holds true in the auto business," said
Kurt Ritter, Chevrolet general manager. "In the next 15 months,
Chevy will be fielding an all-star lineup in
key mid-market positions. The new Malibu, Colorado and Equinox
will build on the momentum of our recent truck
launches, and help strengthen our presence in the
heart of the market."
When
the curtain went up on the 2003 North American International Auto Show,
Chevrolet was going to take a bold step forward with
three all-new vehicles aimed straight at the heart of
the car, truck and SUV markets. It’s the most competitive segment of
the market, filled with formidable
domestic and import challengers in the $15,000 to $25,000 price range.
The
all-new 2004 Malibu mid-size sedan, 2004 Colorado mid-size pickup and
2005 Equinox compact utility will
give Chevy a robust presence in the mainstream of the market,
historically a stronghold for the
brand.

manufactured by Porsche that ranks the Cayenne S among the
strongest of all sport utilities.
The Cayenne
S has a base price of $55,900 in the United States and $78,250

Nissan Titan
"Big -
Bold and Better" were the words of Carlos Ghosn, introducing
Nissans new power truck Titan.
The
all-new 2004 Nissan Titan brings to the full-size pickup market bold
styling and a new level of innovation – including rear King Cab
doors that open nearly 180 degrees for nearly unlimited interior access
and a high-utility bed that includes an industry-first factory-applied
spray-in bed liner, a new Utili-track tie-down system that provides
ultimate cargo hauling flexibility and an integrated, lockable bedside
storage compartment.
The
Titan, Nissan's first entry into the full-size truck category, is
built on an all-new pickup platform, featuring a newly designed 300-plus
horsepower Nissan Endurance 5.6-liter DOHC V8 with a torque rating of
more than 375 lb-ft.
The
Titan Crew Cab model will be shown for the first time at the New
York International Auto Show in April 2003.

Toyota FJ Cruiser concept
The
FJ Cruiser concept sport utility vehicle was initiated and developed
jointly by Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., and Calty Design
Research, Toyota’s North American design center in Newport Beach,
Calif.
The FJ Cruiser was developed as a basic, capable and affordable
off-roader aimed to explore new possibilities for a next-generation SUV
aimed specifically at young buyers with active outdoor lifestyles.
All
front and rear seats fold completely flat creating ample cargo space and
maximum usability.
With no gaps and a durable floor covering, the FJ Cruiser can be
converted into a utility deck large enough for two people in their
sleeping bags.

Kia KCD-1 Slice concept
Designed for
the driver seeking passenger- and cargo-hauling versatility without
sacrificing driving enjoyment, the Kia KCD-1 Slice concept is a
fresh interpretation of the "crossover vehicle". The new
design was conceived as an alternative to useful but dynamically clunky
SUVs.
While some
early crossover designs sacrificed either attractive styling or
load-carrying ability, the KCD-1 Slice does neither. Instead the
vehicle is as stylish as an international sport sedan, while seating up
to six adults. In addition the flexible seats fold to offer cargo space
or recline to give superior comfort, offering a number of variations
for hauling people and stuff. At the same time, the vehicle's V-6
powertrain and aggressively tuned suspension will deliver the kind of
performance in either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive
configurations. |
