 69th Geneva International Motor Show open
This year’s Geneva Motor Show takes place at the Palexpo in Geneva, Swiss, March 11 - 21, 1999. This year´s motto is: Geneva: The Spring of the Car.

Although it has opened its doors a few days before spring "officially" begins, in the mind of the public, the International Motor Show traditionally marks the arrival of what many consider to be most beautiful of seasons.

On 93,000 square meters 293 exhibitors from 35 countries are showing the latest innovations around the car. Features sectors include special motor cars, special bodywork, tuners, equipment, accessories and components, garage equipment, electric vehicles, various products and services linked to the automotive sector and also numerous attractions.

By late January, over 90 world or European premiers had been already announced. At least 36 world premiers are on this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the last of the Millennium.

Stuttgart/Tokyo, Wednesday, March 10, 1999-- After intensive discussions, DaimlerChrysler, the international transportation and services group, and Nissan Motor, the Japanese automotive company, decided not to continue their talks about an equity participation in the Japanese company. This is the result of a 3-month period where both parties assessed the strategic and financial options of a global cooperation

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 11, 1999 - The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers announced today that Josephine "Jo" Cooper has been named president of the new organization which was formed in January.

Cooper will direct all legislative and regulatory affairs for the Alliance, which will be the principal trade association for nine automobile manufacturers including: BMW; DaimlerChrysler; Ford; General Motors; Mazda; Nissan; Toyota; Volkswagen; and Volvo.
