The Honda Accord Product Launch

The Honda Marysville plant is the only plant in the U.S. producing the Accord. So, the product launch had to be done within the given manufacturing environment, without loosing any volume. In parallel, the old Accord was running out and the new one had to be brought up to speed. The plant is running a 2-line system, while 1 line is solely dedicated to the Accord. The other runs in a mix with the Acura, which was launched later in August 1998.

 

With the Accord in 1997 Honda, Marysville, Ohio did the best product launch since. In less than two weeks Ron Shriver and his team brought the car up to speed from 0 to 1,750 units a day within the defined quality range, while in parallel closing down the old Accord.
