BMW Automobile Sales BMW's automobile sales were up 3.6 percent year-to-date to 64,183 versus 61,958 in the same period a year ago. April sales were relatively flat for 18,294 cars compared to 18,349 reported in 2002. BMW Sports Activity Vehicle Sales Inventories of BMW's X5 Sports Activity Vehicles remain lower than normal, and that is reflected in sales of the vehicle. BMW reported a 34 percent decline in April sales for 2,716 vehicles compared to 4,086 posted in 2002. Year-to-date, SAV sales are off 22 percent with 11,026 vehicles reported compared to 14,082 sold in the same period in 2002. Certified Pre-owned Vehicle Sales BMW reported April sales of 6,204 vehicles, making this the strongest CPO sales month ever and eclipsing the previous monthly record (5,702 units reported in August 2002) by more than 500 vehicles. April sales were up 16 percent over the 5,358 units reported in 2002. Year-to-date, CPO sales were up 15 percent with 21,408 vehicles posted compared to 18,653 in the same period a year ago. MINI Automobiles Demand for MINI brand automobiles remains strong. MINI USA reported April sales of 3,121 automobiles compared to 1,559 sold last April. Year-to-date, sales of MINI automobiles totaled 11,304 compared to 2,346 sold in the same period of 2002. MINI went on sale in the U.S. on March 22, 2002. (May 1, 2003)
