Cars today announced that Karen Vonder Meulen will join

Rolls-Royce in January 2008, replacing Bob Austin, who
will retire from the company at the end of 2007.

joined BMW North America in 1998, where she is presently the

In this role she has been responsible for media relations and
communications strategy for a wide range of projects and
initiatives, including the development of the company’s arts and
culture program.
In her new position, Vonder Meulen

“We are delighted to welcome Karen
to our team at a pivotal moment in the company’s recent
history,” commented Graham Biggs, the company’s worldwide
Director of Corporate Communications, based at Goodwood. “North
America is the largest market in the world for Rolls-Royce and
Karen’s communication role will be a vital one as we prepare for
the launch of our new products in the coming years.” |
Biggs noted that Austin had played
an important role during the company’s start up phase. “We owe
Bob a debt of gratitude for his hard work over the last five
years. His contribution to the success of Rolls-Royce in North
America has been significant and his professionalism and
experience have been invaluable to us. We wish him a well
deserved, long and happy retirement.” Austin explained that he
had thoroughly enjoyed his time at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, but
was now interested in spending more time with his family and
pursuing his own interests. “I have been part of the team that
helped to write the next chapter in the history of one the
world’s most revered brands. For someone who loves brands, this
was a rare privilege. I will miss Rolls-Royce and the great
friends I have made here”.
Last year, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars sold 805
Phantoms world-wide, making it the leader in the super-luxury segment.
Deliveries of the new four-seat convertible Phantom Drophead Coupé model
have just begun and a new coupé model will join the Phantom line-up next
year.
